Sarah Birch

On one level this story was influenced by a friend’s heart-breaking experience with postnatal depression. The pain and guilt felt from not immediately bonding with a new baby is so difficult to comprehend and so many women experience this. But mostly it's about how lonely and destructive we become when we are suffering with any type of depression or anxiety or even just having a bad day. It is about the dark worlds that we create for ourselves internally, how we shut people out and how we destroy ourselves by living too much in our own heads amongst the guilt and shame and lack of self-worth that we so easily feel.
